In 2014, Pennsylvania established a Dyslexia and Early Literacy Intervention Pilot Program to “provide evidence-based early screening and multitier support systems, using evidence-based intervention services for students with potential risk factors for early reading deficiencies and dyslexia.”
But since 2014, there appears to be no mandated requirement for assessment or interventions for struggling readers. Parents should inquire with their local school and board to ensure their struggling reader is identified and supported.
