Tennessee' s motto may be Agriculture and Commerce, but it's doing pretty well on the education side of things too, at least as far as supporting students with dyslexia goes. Though home to only three independent schools for students with dyslexia, Tennessee is one of relatively few states with legislation requiring early identification, effective interventions and professional development related to dyslexia. |

2015 Tennessee law requires universal screening followed by appropriate tiered dyslexia specific interventions through a Response to Intervention framework. The same legislation requires pre-service and in-service PD. In short, parents in Tennessee should be seeing high awareness and effective programming for struggling readers.
